You may wonder - why do I need a CPA? Won't any accountant do?
There are many advantages to hiring a CPA. First, a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) has been vetted by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and is licensed by its governing body after passing a rigorous exam covering all aspects of accounting, auditing, tax and business law. Second, a CPA stays abreast of accounting changes and updates and reports to the state board at least 40 hours of continuing professional education each year in order to maintain the license.
According to the American Institute of Public Accountants, the difference between an accountant and a certified public accountant is "education, experience and opportunity". CPAs adhere to experience requirements and continually receive ethical training in order to keep the license.
